Tomek Rygalik

DESIGNER

Designer Tomek Rygalik grew up in a time of economic transformation of Poland before moving to New York and then London, pursuing his passion for architecture and design. He studied architecture in Lodz, and graduated in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute (1999 BID). After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2005 (MA), he joined the RCA staff as a Research Associate. He established his practice both in London and Warsaw, while working as curator and educator with Ph.D in Industrial Design. His outlook on design is a unique voice reflected from his background. The analysis of the material culture and resourcefulness are in the heart of his thinking. Through design he strives to achieve stimulating and long-lasting functional results through minimal means, often by challenging the material properties, structure and by experimenting with new processes. Studio Rygalik award wining team remains on the fringe of distinctly commercial activities, while engaging in cultural practices and building its experimental identity.
